BREAKING NEW GROUND

In November 2021, I was privileged to be a part of a short-term team that The Well sent to Morocco to scout out teams that we could possibly send laborers to. 99% of the country’s population resides in unreached people groups where gospel access is limited. However, as the Holy Spirit always has, He is drawing people to Father! One Moroccan man we met, A, is a lawyer and studied at a seminary in Jordan. God gave him a vision to re-establish the Christian heritage of North Africa. He is working toward creating the first Protestant seminary in the history of the country, a presence of Christianity that has not existed in that region since St. Augustine’s era around 400 AD.

As we were discussing the details of the seminary and its establishment, I felt the Holy Spirit remind me of Nehemiah and how he approached the king with a detailed plan to rebuild his city’s walls (Nehemiah 2:1-8). Right before I got to encourage our brother, he turned to us and said “We need laborers to help rebuild this” and then referenced Nehemiah! I told him how the Spirit wanted me to tell him that “He will send laborers” and we rejoiced at the alignment of the Spirit in that moment.

Being a lawyer, our friend is in a very advantageous position to establish this seminary since he’s aware of the loopholes within the country’s strict religious laws. Our friend has an entire plan, timeline, and list of resources needed to see this vision accomplished, but he needs laborers. Ultimately, he envisions many pastors and missionaries being equipped and sent to other countries in North Africa, to proclaim Jesus where He is not known! I was so humbled that God would choose me to be a part of that conversation. The invitation to join the Father in His work is open to you, too!
