OUR HOPE IN CHRIST

In mid-November 2021, I was blessed with the opportunity to be sent to Jordan through a short-term trip at The Well. Although there are countless stories to share about how the Spirit is moving amongst the people there, I decided to share this one specifically as it continuously serves as a reminder to my heart of our hope in Christ alone.

Unlike many of the house visits we attended, this older, Jordanian couple had been believers for the past seven years (praise God). Within a two week timeframe, both the husband’s brother and wife’s father had passed away. Despite this being considered a time of mourning in our worldly view, it was a time of joy and thanksgiving for this couple as both relatives had been saved. When asked how their relationship with the Lord has been given their recent losses, they emphasized that their faith had only increased.

During this time of communion, we shared the story of when Jesus calms the storm. We were able provide them encouragement by drawing a comparison of this couple’s response during a time of hardship to Jesus’ disciples in this passage. Unlike Jesus’s disciples who lost faith and were afraid through a severe storm while Jesus was sleeping, this couple never lost sight of who Jesus is and never questioned for a second whether or not He was “sleeping.”

Their joy in response to suffering was a true testament to their steadfastness in a time when most would ask “why God?”.

I hope this story served as a reminder to your heart of our hope in Christ alone as it did mine, and I would encourage you to live out your faith like this couple is by renewing your minds daily and full-heartedly trusting and believing that this world is not our final home. Amen!

THE WELL MISSIONS

We believe Jesus was serious when He said to take the gospel to the ends of the earth, so we desire to do just that. We do not only want to briefly help people by doing short-term mission trips, but also build sustaining relationships and be a consistent help by sending long-term missionaries, businesses, and anything else that will help carry the gospel overseas.
