THE PURSUIT OF CHRIST

I recently had an incredible privilege of going on a short-term trip to Jordan with the Well. During our time we visited the house of a refugee family connected to the local church, and we had no context of their living situation or of their exposure to the gospel. When we walked in, we met a 70-80 year old widow of three adult special needs children.

Almost immediately, our translator let us know this woman wanted to hear about Jesus! I pulled out a wrinkled piece of blank paper and started to share the gospel using the three circles method. I was shocked at how quickly she responded to my presentation, as she was nodding in agreement the entire time. Our pastor then made it clear that accepting Jesus meant rejecting Islam and Mohammed. She had no objections and wanted Jesus in her heart immediately. We hadn’t been in her home for 10 minutes and she trusted in Christ! We started praising God and celebrating!

She continued sharing her story with us and told us she felt an overwhelming peace when we walked in. Christians, she said, are the only people she felt peace around. Turns out there were local Christian women who loved and supported her when her husband passed while not a single Muslim friend of hers had. Those Christian women had shown her Jesus well before we had a chance to tell her about Him! By the time we arrived, she was ready to accept Jesus because she knew exactly what he was about. He had been showing His love to her all along.

God used this situation to remind us of the urgency of sharing the gospel and that His timing is perfect.

The woman could have shared the gospel earlier, but God was preparing her heart for the moment when three Texans traveled to Jordan over Thanksgiving to share the gospel on a blank, wrinkled piece of paper. God could have used anyone, at any time, but he chose us, in that moment. Now we get to celebrate together in eternity!

THE WELL MISSIONS

We believe Jesus was serious when He said to take the gospel to the ends of the earth, so we desire to do just that. We do not only want to briefly help people by doing short-term mission trips, but also build sustaining relationships and be a consistent help by sending long-term missionaries, businesses, and anything else that will help carry the gospel overseas.
